I completed this piece last week for a show at Walls Fine Art Gallery in downtown Norfolk. I think I was trying to capture the sense of isolation you might feel viewing a painting by Edward Hopper. There's a kind of beauty in austere loneliness, but I can only tolerate so much of it.
I went to the Hopper exhibit at the National Gallery in D.C. last year. It was strange to be in a loud crowded room looking at paintings about being alone at a distance.
